I was delighted to receive the Wedding Photograph Of The Month award from photographers.ie for this photograph which was taken at Rosemarie and Raymond’s wedding at Fernhill House Hotel last month.
I was delighted when Zainab and Mahfar asked me to photograph their wedding at the Castlemartyr Resort, not only are they a fantastic couple to work with, but Castlemartyr is one of the best wedding venues in Ireland.
Here is what Zainab posted on my Facebook page the day after their wedding…
Myself, my husband and Castlemartyr resort’s staff thought you are one of the best photographer we have ever seen ! You were a wedding planner and a photographer. You are very creative and you put so much time and energy into your work ! You made us feel we were a special bride and groom. Thank you so so much.
We started off the photography in the presidential suite and worked our way through the hotel and grounds before the guests arrived for the drinks reception at 4pm.
Omg !!!
Those pics are unreal ! I’m so so happy with them.
Thank you so much for all the hard work.
I am absolutely delighted that I had u in my wedding. We felt very comfortable with you. You were our photographer, wedding planner and someone who kept us going with his encouragement.
Thank you so much again for all the hard work
Zainab.
Zainab and Mahfar made a grand entrance down the main staircase and we took the family portraits and a group shot in the formal gardens behind the hotel.
At 6pm the guests gathered in the dining room for the traditional Persian Wedding Ceremony, which included the exchange of gifts and food as well as rings.
When the ceremony was completed we had dinner, which was followed by one of the many highlights of the day, a traditional Persian Wedding Knife Dance. The Irish guests danced just as enthusiastically as Zainab and Mahfar’s relatives and much hilarity ensued.
Finally, Zainab changed into a beautiful Indian wedding dress for the cutting of the cake.
Hi Dermot,
We are delighted that we had you as our photographer yesterday, you were absolutely brilliant. These pics are amazing and we are really looking forward to seeing the rest. Our friends and family were also amazed at how you handled everything. Will talk to you again soon! Take care!
Mahfar
Hi Dermot,
We received the photographs this week and already I have no idea how we are going to choose!
Looking through them brought back all the happy memories and I am so pleased that we decided to have you there, as the day passed in such a blur it was great to be able to take it all in again.
They are absolutely perfect. A massive thank you and well done for all your hard work! I know these things look amazing as the finished product and it can be easy to forget the effort and work you have so obviously put in! So thank you!
Thank you so much again.
Bethany and Liam
Xx
Bethany and Liam live just outside London and were married in Our Lady Of Perpetual Succour Church in Shrone, Co. Kerry, where Liam’s father originally comes from. They had their reception at the Heights Hotel in Killarney and we stopped off at The Killarney Golf And Fishing Club for our location shoot in the afternoon.
They are one of the most laid back wedding couples I have ever met, but they were also the most adventurous couple ever when it came to their wedding photography. There walked bare foot in the freezing lake and then “borrowed” a golf buggy for a hair raising spin around the grounds of the golf course.
Later on, their wedding cake collapsed into a huge creamy mess on the reception room floor (that’s another story) Bethany just said, “If that’s the worst thing that happens today, then I’m not going to let it bother me!
Thank you so much Beth and Liam for having me as your photographer, I had a ball.
Jennifer and Traolach were married in The Honan Chapel in the grounds of UCC in Cork. We used to beautiful grounds and buildings on the campus as a backdrop for our photographs and then went on to the wonderful Fernhill House Hotel for the reception.
Michelle and Colm were married in Barryroe Church in beautiful West Cork and following their ceremony, we went to Dunworley beach for photographs. Their reception was held in Fernhill House Hotel, and we stopped off in Clonakilty to take advantage of the fantastic photo opportunities available in the town.
Noreen and Jason were married in beautiful Ballydehob, West Cork in June. These photographs were taken on the Warren Beach in Rosscarbery on the way to their reception in the Celtic Ross Hotel.

The Traditional Wedding Album has a timeless look with a modern digital twist.

I have already shown a few people and they have said it is the best album they’ve ever seen!
Thank you for all your hard work!
Sian & Mark
It’s funny how a small idea can take on a life of it’s own. When I suggested to the organizers of the Clonakilty Bicycle Festival that I would like to do a series of classic portraits of bicycle users, little did we know that we were creating a monster. I set up a backdrop in Spillers Lane in Clonakilty on a Friday morning to coincide with the country market, and used Facebook and word of mouth to invite bike owners along to have their portrait taken. The weather was on our side and over a 2 hour period I had well over 40 people turn up.
By the time I finished the shoot I knew that I had something special. I really boosted the colour at the processing stage and cropped the images to a square format and put them up on Facebook. I have never had a reaction to a set of images to match the positive feedback I got over the next few days. My stats were off the scale, the press were interested and a local gallery offered me an exhibition for the period of the festival if I could get the prints done in time. I did, and here is the set of images I showed. 2 weeks later, I am still getting a reaction on Facebook.
